In 2020, the Vera Institute partnered with Bridgespan to design a new system for supporting and scaling transformative change. Although innovation, piloting, and change were in Vera’s DNA since its founding, the process was often opaque, relying on superstar project directors to make it happen, and Vera’s (and the nation’s) ambitions and appetite had since become national.
Influenced considerably by a model from the healthcare sector–the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s 90-day Learning Cycle–a team of Verans evolved The Impact Pipeline. The Pipeline identified four stages for scaling national change, as well as the timing, costs, teams, and roles needed.
